Hi, I’m Alexander. I started Cat Behavior HQ because of the cat you see in the photos below.

I spent a lot of time sitting on my floor feeling confused while trying to figure out what he was thinking. One time, he started and I could not find a straight answer anywhere. I looked for help online, but everything I found was either too medical or did not actually match what was happening in my own home.

I realized most cat owners do not need a textbook. They need someone to explain the reason behind the specific thing their cat is doing right now.

Why I built this site

Cat Behavior HQ is where I break down those exact moments. I do use real scientific studies from places like the Cornell Feline Health Center, but I found that most of these studies are way too clinical for the average owner to understand. They are full of jargon that does not help when you are dealing with a frustrated cat.

I take that science and translate it into basic, plain language. I focus on the “why” behind the behavior so you can actually use the information.

I focus on things like:

  • Why a cat suddenly stops using the litter box.
  • What they are trying to tell you when they spray your walls.
  • How to tell the difference between a cat that is bored and a cat that is stressed.

My approach

I do not believe in guessing or using quick fixes that do not work. I look at established behavioral patterns and real-world situations. My goal is to give you a clear explanation so you can stop worrying and start helping your cat.

A quick note: I am not a vet. I am a dedicated owner and a researcher of cat behavior. If your cat looks like they are in pain or sick, please call a professional. I am here to help you understand their mind, but a vet is there to help their body.

I am glad you are here. Let’s figure out what your cat is trying to say.
